Clinical Approaches

Dr Deborah provides individual, couples, family and group therapy using the following clinical approaches:

Acceptance and Committment Therapy

This approach helps you focus on being present in the moment, accepting your thoughts and feelings without judgment, and taking meaningful action in line with your values. It combines mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and behavioural change to help you live a more fulfilling life despite challenges.

Compassion Focused Therapy

This approach helps you develop a kinder, more understanding attitude toward yourself and others. It focuses on building self-compassion, especially if you're someone who struggles with self-criticism or feelings of shame.

Behavioural Activation

This approach focuses on helping you increase positive, rewarding activities in your daily life, especially when you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed by a health condition. The idea is that when we're not engaging in meaningful activities, it can worsen feelings of stress, sadness, or anxiety, and can even make physical symptoms worse.

Signs that therapy may be helpful to you

Feeling Overwhelmed or Stuck: Struggling to cope with daily life or feeling trapped in negative thoughts and habits. Trouble Managing Emotions: Experiencing intense moods, sadness, anger, or anxiety that are hard to control. Life Disruptions: If mental health is affecting work, relationships, or daily activities. Changes in Behaviour: Withdrawing from things you enjoy, changes in sleep, eating, or socialising. Relationship Problems: Struggling with communication, conflict, or intimacy in relationships. Physical Symptoms with No Clear Cause: Experiencing unexplained physical issues like headaches or fatigue tied to stress or emotions. Feeling Isolated: Loneliness or feeling disconnected from others. Desire for Personal Growth: Seeking self-improvement, better understanding, or a sense of purpose. If any of these resonate, therapy can help you work through these challenges and improve your well-being.
